Meet MyGenie, the App that rewards you with airtime

Ever since the App evolution took the world by storm a couple of years ago, there has been no sign of relenting. On a daily basis new Apps are being introduced mostly targeting the young and upwardly mobile populace. The latest of the Apps to hit the market with freebies is the MyGenie App which was launched in Lagos recently by Kirusa, one of the leading Mobile Social Media and Value Added Service providers in the world.

An App is a self-contained programme or piece of software designed to fulfil a particular purpose; an application, especially as downloaded by a user to a mobile device.
For the young, MyGenieApp has come to make the world a better place. MyGenie App downloads and referrals are rewarded with daily airtime which could be up to N500 daily depending on usage   and number of successful referrals. The App, which is available to android users comes with exclusive features that add fun and excitement to the way people stay in touch.

Chief Executive Officer, Kirusa Inc. Dr. InderpalMumick in an interactive session with journalists urged Nigerians to explore the App and reap its benefits. He said there were about seven apps on the MyGenie platform and there would be updates in days to come and that users would be constantly notified when new Apps were ready.
Mumick said part of the reasons for introducing the App to the Nigerian market was to grow the country’s mobile ecosystem, and fuel entrepreneurship in Nigeria, by creating a platform for the local app developers to reach out to their customers in a seamless manner, by assisting them in their app promotion efforts.

Commenting on the MyGenie App, an app user and IT expert, TaiwoAkinpelu, commended Kirusa for the innovative and brilliant product. He said Apps have come to stay. Indeed it has even become embedded in the daily lives of young people as it offers a guaranteed free talk time. There are other benefits apart from the free airtime. InstaVoice, an App on the MyGenie platform enables users to track their call records.  The InstaVoice allows users to get a notification of missed calls and voicemails when they switch on their phones.
“The App is quite easy to download and it works well. I am a user. When I downloaded InstaVoice and other Apps for instance, I got over N100 worth of airtime instantly. It is working very well on my phone and the credit is instant. I think this works more for the youths who need more airtime. I would advise Kirusa to increase the number of apps on the platform so that users can earn more,” he said.
To app developers, the App would stimulate growth in that community. Since reward is tied to its use, it will encourage potential users to sign on and this will guarantee its sustenance in the market.
An App developer, David Kruyt, had this to say about MyGenie;
“MyGenie is an altogether new way of promoting the app developer community. It is a simple way to reach out and get the App campaigns organized. The most exciting part is that MyGenie helps in usage and retention of the apps by incentivizing customers in Nigeria, making it a win-win for both App developers and customers,” he said. Besides, it is an opportunity for Nigerian app developers to explore and reach out to more of their customers.
Robert Masumbuko, Head Financial Inclusion of African Development Bank said,
“We are excited about MyGenie App being launched in Nigeria.  African mobile App developers will now have the opportunity to reach out to a wider audience and get assured usage of their Apps. It will also influence app usage market, thereby opening doors for fresh investments in this sector.”
Speaking at the launch, AnyanwuJonnasObinna, Head of Content Partnership in TwinPine said,
“MyGenie is a disruptive innovation in the mobile advertising space. We hope that it will carve out a new market for the App developers and support them in reaching their customers in more efficient ways than before.”
