Mikel’s appointment as Eagles captain excites father

The appointment of Mikel Obi as captain of the Super Eagles has sent excitement to the Obi family as his father, Pam Michael Obi, has said that it was God ordained.

Obi, while expressing the happiness in an interview with our correspondent in Jos on Friday, said he had no doubt that Mikel has all it takes to lead the Eagles to victory in the period of his captaincy.

He said this was not the first time Mikel was offered the position, but on each occasion he had rejected it, saying that his acceptance of the recent offer was one whose time had come.

Obi said, “I have already sent a text message to my son, reminding him that his appointment at this time was ordained by God and that he should not joke with it. I told him that the starting point is for him to lead Super Eagles to victory against the Pharaohs of Egypt and I know that he will do it.”

He said with Mikel’s background as a humble and disciplined person, he has no doubt that he (Mikel) will be able to lead his colleagues.
